I'm not surprised nobody knows the answer off the top of their head. Most email clients are much of a muchness, and nobody expects them to do anything startlingly innovative, so people tend to stick to what they've always used.
Personally, I use an IMAP mail server, so all my mail stays on the server and regardless of what client I use, I just have to configure it with my account details and hey presto all my mail is there. I really don't know, what with the inexpensiveness of hard drive space these days, why ISPs don't offer IMAP as a matter of course.
