This is not particularly GNU/Linux related - indeed it's operating system agnostic by definition - but something I mentioned in relation to a discussion about web services at yesterday's meeting. Tim Berners-Lee gave this talk at Oxford University earlier this month, about the future of the Web, with particular reference to a project he's been pushing for some years now, the Semantic Web.
I must admit to being a bit slow on the uptake, so it wasn't until listening to this lecture that the super-cranial lightbulb came on and I "got" the Semantic Web. I am now a true believer, and intend to drone on about it at length at every possible opportunity. The lecture is available in a number of (sadly proprietary) video formats and Ogg Vorbis audio. I would advise watching the video while referring to the accompanying slides, but you should be able to get the gist with the Ogg audio.

Sir Tim uses Drupal, too!
By the way, guess which content management system Sir Tim uses for his blog...
